Stump Grinding — Below Ground, Cleared for Landscaping

We grind stumps 6–12 inches below ground level so you can re-turf, pave, plant or build over the spot. Our grinder is narrow enough for most side gates and tidy enough for finished gardens.

What we do

  • Single stumps after removals
  • Old stumps left by previous contractors
  • Multiple-stump clearance for landscapers
  • Grinding ahead of patios, decks and extensions

How the job runs

  1. Step 1
    Access check

We confirm gate widths and where to dump the arisings.

  2. Step 2
    Grind down

Stump and surface roots ground out below soil level.

  3. Step 3
    Backfill

Arisings raked back in or removed — your choice.

FAQs — Stump Grinding

How deep do you grind?

Typically 6–12 inches below ground level — enough to re-turf or plant over. Deeper grinds for building work on request.

Will the roots regrow?

Most species won’t once the stump is ground out. Some (laurel, cherry) can throw suckers; we’ll flag it before we start.

Can you reach my back garden?

Our grinder fits through most standard side gates (around 76cm). We’ll check on the quote.
